I am a native of Bettendorf, Iowa. I received excellent direction and encouragement from the art teachers in the public school where my life long dream to become an artist began.

In 1977, after graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, I entered the teaching profession. For 15 years I lived in Hinsdale, Illinois, where I studied watercolors with Caroline Lyford Catalano. Since moving back to the Quad Cities twenty years ago I’ve taught art to children in grades pre-k through adult in a classroom/studio in my home. I currently have over 125 students from the Quad City area.

I serve as a contract art teacher for Artist in Residence for Bettendorf Community Schools, Inspiration Studios for special needs artists, Atom Studio + Gallery, Davenport and the Figge Art Museum in Davenport. My murals are featured in churches, businesses, and private homes.

While I have been an artist for many years, it has been since turning fifty that I find my work growing and changing. My desire for working in a variety of mediums has increased and I find I am carving out more time for this passion. Attending Life Drawing sessions a, sculpting the figure in clay for the first time, traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio to study oil painting with Richard Luschek II, meeting Carl Samson and painting with other area artists in small groups seems to feed my soul and nurture my spirit. I believe this gift is a God given one and it is essential to invest time and energy to grow to my potential. For years, I felt it was a bit selfish to carve out special time for myself – not anymore. See what turning fifty can do!

This year I opened a gallery, Beréskin Fine Art Gallery & Studio in Bucktown Center for the Arts, 225 E. 2nd Street in Davenport, Iowa. Along with Dean Kugler, Jason Frank, David AndersonBrad Bisbey, Gene Brack, Bob Zeidler, Lee Kimball, TJ Collins, David Zahn, we offer a complete array of artwork ranging from sculptures, paintings in every medium to photography. We have the privilege of featuring area artists. We offer classes to people of all ages and abilities. I hope you’ll stop by and see us. We have special events every Final Friday of each month.

Generally my best works are realistic and tells a story. I try to find subject matter that sparks my interest and creativity. Although, I find satisfaction in doing consignment work that fills others’ needs to have their personal ideas come to fruition. Working with and helping artists develop their gifts inspires me to reach higher as I wish them to do.
